Daily Log

June 26, 1998

Finished removing the last of the 5 cm cut, removing all the more thickly matted grass.

A second cut was begun in E138-139/S24.  The soil remained consistent with that in the first cut, and so retains the designation Locus 30.  3 large stones (20-30 cm) were uncovered but were not immediately associated with one another.  They have been left in place.

Pottery and tile quantities will be recorded in the afternoon.

The second cut was completed to the edge of the north R14 wall, lowering the area to a depth of approximately 45 cm b.d.  The soil continued to be medium grayish-brown (Locus 30).

The baulks were trimmed and high spots in the trench floor levelled.

This work produced 2/3 of a latte box of pottery and bone and 40-50 fragments of tile, including a number of pantile fragments, as well as many small fragments of tile.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
