June 16, 1976

Work continued on cut #2.  The rest of the topsoil was removed early in the morning and work commenced on the dark brown soil stratum.

At the same time work continued in cut #1 grids P 35-36, leaving the earth above the north wall.

In cut #1 grid P35 a small deposit of frieze plaque fragments and sima was found.  The terracottas were directly above a stratum of stones.  Occasional pieces of fine bucchero were also found.

No major finds in cut #2.  Occasional pieces of coarse pottery and weathered tile were found.
