STRATEGY: To continue section in the west of the trench.
SUMMARY: Lot 888 was opened to remove a chunk of wall f241 to try and expose more stones. As more of this material was removed the contrast between the piece of wall and the corner found surrounding room f231 was very obvious. Once the soil was removed, it became very clear that we had a large tholos approximately 6 metres across and it was flattened to the SW where the wall f250 joins the main tholos ring. It is also interesting to note that the stones revealed by lot 885 and that make up the section of the tholos are smaller and more numerous than at the western and eastern extremities of the trench. This, along with its straightened appearance may indicate its later addition, possibly blocking an entrance way. The NE baulk was also cleaned as it was threateninga collapse. Lot 887 was used for this.
