STRATEGY: Continue to remove lot 2012 in an easterly direction in order to bring trench 446N, 596E closer to the level of 451N, 596E to the north.
SUMMARY: Removal of lot 2012 revealed an area of broken pot sherds, stone and plaster. This area was triangular in shape and corresponded to the space left between wall f266 and the stone foundations f276. The sherds and stones thus probably served as packing to stabilise the surface between wall f266 and f260. The packing was removed as lot 2013. The sherds and stones lie at a slight angle sloping towards the east. They are not horizontal and so probably did not function as a floor.
