The primary goal of trench T-18 for the 2001 season was to obtain a stratigraphic picture of the relationship between the Archaic tripartite structure and the Upper Building, but due to the small amount of soil preserved in the area, this was not accomplished. An unusual rock feature was revealed however during excavation and this feature should be further explored in following seasons in order to determine its date and function.

It does appear as though this rock feature rests on a packing of galestra and a tile fall was uncovered to the south of the rock feature which most likely dates to the Archaic period but has not been detered this season.

The tile fall stops at the feature and some of the tile appear to be pushed against the feature itself. It is recommended that excavations continue in this area to determine the size of this rock feature and its association with other structures in the vicinity and to further explore the area of the tile fall to determine whether it is associated with the Upper Building, Archaic tripartite structure or the rock feature itself.
