Daily Log
AM
Began the day by continuing the pick pass across the entire area of locus 2 .
The soil has remained consistent throughout the pick pass. It is still a claylike dark soil full of organic material. The pick pass has also revealed roughly 1/3 of a bowl of terracotta. During this pick pass a piece of medieval pottery was recovered indicating that Locus 2 is not an ancient context (Find #1).

While excavating in locus 2 another piece of medieval pottery was recovered (Find #6).

We are beginning the afternoon by continuing the cut through locus 2 . In the course of excavating we are beginning to remove one of the small stumps located throughout the trench. The soil remains brown and claylike so we will begin a new pick pass to explore the extent of locus 2 . We will also attempt the removal of more
Stumps in the trench. During the work around the stumps in the southern meter of the trench a piece of vitrified terracotta was recovered (Find#7).
