Portions of the first meter by four meter area pick axed in order to level the trench. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, consistent with Locus 3 . Rocks are emerging in the northwestern corner, they are being defined to explore their extent. A few small fragments of terra cotta and pottery found during cleaning. Pick pass done in the second meter by four meter from the north. Soil consistent with Locus 3 , sorted and cleaned from the trench. Some terra cotta found during cleaning. Pick axing done through the third meter by four meters from the north. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, consistent with Locus 3 soil. Pottery found while cleaning as well as terra cotta. The southern most meter by four meter strip pick axed. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, remaining consistent with Locus 3 . Some terra cotta found while cleaning. Using hand axes soil around the rocks in the northwestern corner removed in order to define the rocks. Some terra cotta found within the rocks. Simultaneously pick axing done in the northern

two by four meter strip. Soil consistent with Locus 3 , light brown soil mottled with white, orange, and black. Soil sorted and removed from the trench. Terra cotta found during cleaning. Area under the stump in the northern baulk wall cleaned. Continued pick axing in the second meter by three meter area from the north, excluding the meter at the western edge where rocks are being defined using hand picks. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench consistent with Locus 3 . Terra cotta found during cleaning. More picking done over the two northern meter by three meter strip. Rocks appearing in the east as well now. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, consistent with Locus 3 . Larger chunks o terra cotta being round, 5-7cm. Pottery also found. Hand picking from the north baulk wall in order to define the extent of the rocks. Pottery and terra cotta found in cleaning. Soil consistent with Locus 3 . Pick pass done in the second and third meter by four meters from the south to determine if the rocks extend to the south. Many rocks encountered during picking varying from 5-10cm to larger 15-30cm lengths. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, remains

consistent with Locus 3 . Terra cotta present in the cleaning. Hand picks used to define where rocks are in the middle two meters. Soil sorted and cleaned, consistent with Locus 3 .

The rocks were found to extend into the second meter from the north, so pick axing repeated in the third meter from the north to see if they extend further south. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench. Pottery found while sorting. No rocks emerging, but the soil is still higher in the third meter area from the north than in the other two northern meters where rocks are prevalent. A second pick pass done in the third meter from the northern wall. Some rocks encountered in the pick pass. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, consistent with Locus 3 . Terra cotta found while cleaning. A third shallow pick done over the third meter strip from the north. Some rocks emerge below the soil which is sorted and cleaned from the trench and terra cotta found during cleaning. Began picking in the southern most meter in order to level the trench and see whether the rocks

extend to the south. Soil consistent with Locus 3 , cleaned from the trench. Terra cotta found while sorting. Second pick pass done in the southern meter strip, with special attention around the tree stump in the southeastern corner. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench. Terra cotta found during cleaning.
