contains materials such as pottery, bone, and terracotta, including vitrified terracotta. Picking was done in the northern half of the trench moving from the west to east 2 meters, as it is noticeably higher than the rest of the trench. These two meters were lightly picked twice. Found while clearing here was vitrified terracotta (special find #1) and a ridged pottery rim (special find #2). Work continued by lowering the baulk wall between CA 73 Ext. and CA 78 (AJC V). as this wall is contained within CA 78s Locus 1, any material found will be recorded there. A had pick was used in the coutheatern corner around the exposed bedrock to the north. This was dine to further define the rocks present in the east. While excavating a piece of incised and stamped bucchero was found (special find #3). While handpicking in the eastern half of the trench many more small fragments of bucchero were uncovered along with small amounts of terracotta. A second piece of vitrified terracotta (special find #4) was uncovered while leveling the trench in the central southern portion of the trench. The area around the eastern stump was leveled and its exposed roots defined further.
