Morning
In AG-X we continue remving the earth under the tile fall, first finishing the making of a level shelf corresponding to the floor of Cut 3, the digging to about the level of Cut 4. In 0 (west) burned matter eappaers to forma alight burn probably preliminary to the very heavy burn of Cut 5. In 0 this burn begins ca. 15cm down the cut, near its floor, or about 65cm for the baulk; this is also true in Z where burn is 70-75cm below the (rising) baulk, but toward the edge the burn does drop somewhat.
We continue digging once this is determined over the burn, removing as far as possible only the nearly empty tan soil above and upon which the tile lay.
We nearly reach CC.
Burn soil encountered yields much pottery mainly fine (eg #3), also numerous seeds in 0 (# 's 1 and 2), a large lump of bronze, and the slag #6; also, plaster occurs.
The tan above contains some yellow, some stones and next to nothing else, but yields the plaque fragment #5, and a small quantity of tile.
# 's 7-9 come from the tile removed yesterday from the fall.
