4 more boxes were lifted in the western half and about 2 boxes of scattered tiles (mostly along southern edge) in the eastern half. The section west of the southern return produced a red layer similar to the one in the corner of 1U in which more small fragments of

A second course was started, producing very little tile- less than a box.

The trench was cleaned. 6 boxes of tiles, 2 boxes of plaster.

Continued removing of topsoil. Bedrock and stone formation appeared but no clear continuation of the eastern wall which made a projection visible in trench 1AE where it went on
