A.M.
Continued bringing meters G/47-49 down to approximately 70 cm, level with the rest of the trench. Soil type continues to be medium brown with plaster inclusions. Fragmented tile frequent, defined these by trowelling. A fragment of rochetto was found (find number 2) in G/48. Pottery concentration was light.
Finished drawing tile fall in I/44 and began removal of surface pieces. Among these was find number 1, a fragment of pan tile with a finger-impressed groove. Just west of the fall in meter H/43, was a terracotta slingstone, find number 3. This prompted the drawing of all meters containing both find number three and several large river stones (H/$\xa3, G-H/45). Drawing will be completed after lunch.
Picked and troweled in meters G-H-I/42-43 down to a depth of 58-61 cm, revealing more tile fall. Including tile fall, about 1 1/2 cassette of tile was gathered from G-H-I/42-44.

P.M.
Continued cut in meters G-H-I/43-42. Noted a soil change in H-I/42,at approximately 63-66 cm depth, to a dark brown, sandy soil with inclusions of carbon and plaster. In meters G/47-44 work continued scraping the baulk and leveling the area. Small amounts of tile were removed from both these areas, as well as small amounts of pottery and bone. Began to define the tiles which were beneath those removed in the A.M. The baulks in meters H-I/52-51 were straightened. The soil type remained unchanged, medium brown, in all areas except that noted above.
