Baulks cleaned in H-I/50-52.  1/4 latte of bone and pottery fragments and a few small fragments of tile were removed.  The baulks in H/48-47 were straightened, producing around 12 fragments of pottery.  A bronze shaft with an attached semi-circular hook was also found (#1).

Baulk cleaning in I/46-48 produced a few small fragments of tile and several small fragments of bone and pottery.  The area in I/46 around the stone concentration was leveled to 130cm producing a few fragments of pottery and one large bone fragment.  Continued cut in H-I/44 to the west at a depth of 130cm.  The top few cm. (3-5) are the dark brown burn layer with a heavier layer of carbon.  Beneath this is a yellowish galestra-like soil.  Very small fragments of tile and plaster were recovered, as well as 1 2/3 latte boxes of pottery and bone.  Also found were a ridged impastorim (#2), an incised bucchero rim (#3), and a small fragment of painted creamware (#4).

Continued work in H-I/43 down to 130cm up to edge of stone S.  Soil remained the same as this morning, 2 or 3 cm of dark brown layer over a yellowish galestra like soil.  Recovered 1/16 cassetta of tile and plaster and 3/4 latte box of small pottery fragments and bone.  Also found a pice of incised impasto (find #7) in H-I/44-43 and a rocchetto (find #8) fragment with part of a stamp remaining on the head.

Straightened baulks in H-I/50-52, finding 1/12 casetta of small tile and plaster fragments, 3/4 latte of pottery (mostly impasto, courseware, and some orangeware) and bone, as well as find #5, a pice of incised bucchero, and find #6, a partial bronze fibula.

Began new cut in H-I/48 down to a depth of approx 130-140cm.  Soil was medium brown and yielded 1/8 latte of pottery and a dozen pieces of tile and plaster.
