The morning commenced with a pick pass in the northernmost meter of the trench in order to lower that area since it is the highest part of the trench. The soil remains yellowish-brown and clay-like with small roots scattered throughout the trench. The soil was hand sorted into buckets using hand picks and trowels. During clearing a fragment of iron was recovered.

Locus 2

Another pick pass occurred in the northernmost meter of the trench since that area is still a bit high. Small concentrations of terra cotta, pottery, and bone have been found.

The stump in the southeastern corner of the trench was removed.

A pick pass commenced in the third meter of the trench in order to remove some of the high spots in that area. Another pick pass occurred in the third meter in order to lower that area and to better define the rocks that are beginning to appear in that area. Simultaneously work commenced with hand picks and trowels in the northernmost meter in order to fully expose and define the rocks in that area. After the soil was cleared roots were clipped and closing elevations were taken.

Work ended early due to il Palio.
