Introduction
At the close of last summer the excavation of T-22 West extension remianed uncompleted (see NM Bk V 185-195). Therefore, the excavation of the trench will be resumed in 1992 with the same goals as outline last year (NM bk V p. 3).
These goals include:
- To gain a better understanding of the stratigraphic relationship between T-21 and T-22, and thereby, antimately of the relationship between the South Building of T-21 and the Southeast Building in T-26.
- To reveal the existence of any possible architectural remains in the ca. 13 meters that lie between T-22 and T-21
3. To recover additional material, especially architectural terracottas, from botht he Upper Building and South Building.
The grid to be used in that for T-21 , T-22, and T-26 as based on the Upper Building
A Note on the Grid
The grid system employed from T-22 West Extension is that developed for T-26 (see M. Tobey II, p.77 and L.R. Lacy, I, p.2). This system numbers the grid from west to east beginning at the southwest corner of the Upper Building with "1" and follows the line of its south wall and letters the grid from north to south beginning at the souther face of its south wall with "A" extending the line of the buildings west wall.
The use of this grid system will cause a discrepancy in the numeric coordinates when T-22 West Extension
is linked with Tesoro Trench 21, because the grid system adopted fro T21 began at "0" at the southwest corner of the Upper Building, whereas the system utilized for T22, T22 West extension and T26 began at 1. (See F. Albtertson, I, 1978-1979 page 9 for diagram of T21 grid).
