A.M.

A cut was begun in E138-139/S24 moving north. It was taken through most of meter S24, but leaving the few large stones in place. A large portion of friable pantile was uncovered in E139/S23. This tile was defined and partially lifted. The area in E138/S23-24 was trowelled down at the same time. The soil remains consistent with that designated Locus 30.

As there remains more of the cut to finish, tile and pottery quantities will be recorded in the afternoon. However, it should be noted here that two fragments of bucchero rims were recovered in this morning's work.

P.M.

The tile fragments were completely removed and the cut continued in meters E138/S23-24. The area was lowered to approximately 45 cm b.d.

Today's work in Locus 30 produced approximately 1/2 of a box of pottery and bone fragments, including a number of greyware fragments, and two sections of pantile approximately 20x20-25 cm and about 25-30 smaller fragments of pan and cover tile.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
