STRATEGY: Continue to remove topsoil (plough zone) now given lot 1500. Then move to lot 1501: soil layer beneath plough zone.
SUMMARY: Removed 1500. It is c. 23cm at its greatest depth and 8cm at its shallowest depth. Finds included pottery, bone and flint, plus a piece of Roman glass (NW quadrant, sf2). Began removal of 1501. This is homogeneous, soft soil. The limits are yet to be defined. Finds included pottery, bone, flint along with a rusty metal nail in the SW corner, which looks to be modern.
