North-south profile of trench.

3 photographs were taken this morning of grid A-3 from the east to record the three fallen rocks between the north end of wall 2 and the south wall of the upper building. See profile, opposite page. These rocks were then removed and excavation of grids A 1-4 and B 1-2 is being continued down to the previous level (approx. 1.8 m from the top of wall 2 *).

It was decided to finish excavating at 0.5 m above previous level and to clean up the trench for photographs.  The eastern face of wall 1 is being cleaned up to the SW corner, as well as the top of the west wall of the upper building for about 3.5 m to the north, and the top of the south wall up to the SW corner.  One tooth was found.  1/2 cassetta of tiles - discarded.  Also

a few pieces of bucchero, and a few pieces of coarse pottery including a foot and 2 pieces of pithos rim.
