Datum Point Reference, Base Line, and Dimensions

A datum point was established on the cement pylon (truncated cone) at the SE corner of the fence which surrounds the remains exposed by the Italians in 1970.  It is set initially at 0; the absolute elevation of which will be determined later (see below).

A grid system with approximately north/south and east/west base lines was set up with the 0/0 point established within the perimeter fence of the earlier excavation.  The trench VT-2 is slighlty skewed to this grid system.

Measuring containers:

Latte box = 1 liter

Can = 50 liters

Bowl = 30 cm. in diameter, 10 cm. in depth

Datum Point is 302.64 m. above sea level.
