Agger 9

Section A

The northern 3rd up to the area where he NS wall should be was taken down to the floor level. Found:

1 symbol on a pan tile

2 iron nail w/o head

3 statue frags incl part of a wing (?)

4 pan tile with a delta

5 pottery incl frags which probably join with the Ionic bowl of June 15 (p 68 no 6a) & the orange fabric with red paint

6 11 boxes of tiles

The southern E crosswall was cleaned & defined. 1 box of tiles.

Secion B

The northern & southern 3rd were taken down completely to the pavement level.





1 nail in northern corner of the section

2 procession frieze frags in southern 3rd which join with the previous ones from this area

3 pan tile with an alpha - northern 3rd

4 usual pottery

5 14 boxes of tiles

Agger 9 extension*

To the east of the agger 9a lies an unexcavated area 4x12m. It was decided to call this strip agger 9 extension (Ag9Ext). Topsoil was removed & surface rock lifted, 1 box of worn surface tiles & an oddly shaped piece (an arm or leg frag?) were found.
