The southern and eastern baulk walls were trimmed. The northern wall was left until the trench is deeper. The stumps were defined and part of stump A and stump C were chopped off and removed. A pick pass was done between the stumps in the western half of the trench. While cleaning up the pass a piece of oddly shaped terracotta was found (special find #3), a piece of slag was found (special find #4), a smaller piece of slag was
uncovered (special find #5). All 3 of these finds and most of the terracotta is coming up from the northwestern section of the trench, between 5 E and 7 E and from 3 N to 4 N. A third piece of slag was found (special find #6).

A pick pass was completed in the center of the trench and around the stumps to lower the sloping from them. A light pick pass was done in the carbonless dirt to see if there was any more carbon in that section of the trench. There was no carbon in the meter and a half south of the large rock and the ½ meter from the western baulk. This section will be left alone until the rest of locus 2 has been removed from on top of the new soil. North of the large stone a large amount of terracotta is being recovered. We are defining this terracotta to see the extent of it in situ. Another pick pass was done in the eastern part of the trench. While cleaning this pass up a piece of bronze was uncovered (special find #11)
