Vitrified Terra Cotta Summary

Vitrified Terra Cotta Summary
Locus # of Finds Weight
1 1 <1g
2 1 <1g
3 0 0
4 0 0
5 0 0
Baulk Trim 2 4g
Total 4 <6g

Very little vitrified terra cotta was found in T-75, with a total of only four finds. Two of the four finds were recovered from the baulk wall and therefore could not provide any contextualized information. Locus 1 produced one fragment of vitrified terra cotta, but since Locus 1 was topsoil and an old dirt dump, it was not significant. Locus 2 also produced a small fragment of vitrified terra cotta, weighing less than one gram. Ultimately, the lack of vitrified terra cotta suggests the absence of fire-based production of resources in the area, or alternatively, the absence of a destructive conflagration in the surrounding structures.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
