Pottery Summary for H-I/20-22
- 50% Coarseware

This area, measuring 3m x 2m x0.7m consists of a medium to dark brown clayey topsoil and a lighter bwon clayey soil. It lies north of the wall in J/20-22. Suprisingly little pottery was recovered from the area. The sherds are in relatively good condition but only a few are larger than 5 to 7 cm. A few bone fragments were recovered but very little plaster.

This area is basically topsoil with very little pottery. It produced 6 sherds of coarseware, one sherd of orangeware, and one ring base fragment.
Pottery from H-I/23-24 = T-6b Backfill
This pottery was not saved.
However, it consisted of approximately one liter of pottery with most sherds 5-7 cm and few diagnostics.

Pottery from H-I/23-24 beneath T-6b
This soil is a medium brown with carbon and other ceramic material.

Pottery from H-I/20-21 Burn Layer
- 70% coarseware
- 20% impasto
- 5% orangeware
- 2% bucchero/buccheroid
- 2% creamware
- Very occasional plaster
The burn layer consists of a medium to dark brown clayey soil with many carbon inclusions and substantially more pottery and bone than the other layers in the trench. The coarseware fragments are largest, averaging 7 cm.
Baulk trim pottery produced the same proportions.
