Cleaning was done around the small stumps in zeta-eta/54 and epsilon-zeta/54. A very small amount of tile and some plaster was found around these stumps. Very little pottery was found. The stump in epsilon-zeta/54 appears to be completely surrounded by floor, therefore it will have to be very carefully removed. It was taken out quite easily.

The area around the large stree stump in gamma/52-53 was cleaned down, but the stump is still in place. Quite a bit of tile and plaster came from this area, as well as some pithos fragments and some coarseware. Grids gamma-delta/51-52 were brought down to a level of approximately 50 cm.
It was decided to make a cut one meter to the east in grids gamma-epsilon/55 to even out the trench. Half of delta/55 was brought down to just above "floor" level. A lateral sima corner fragment - preserving part of the waterspout attachment scar and the cover tile attachment point - was found at only 15 cm in delta/55. A lot of coarseware and some pithos fragments were found in this grid. Tile was minimal.
