Daily Log

June 15, 1987

Week began by laying out the grid for the trench but was halted on account of rain.

Work resumed with laying the grid, to the west-east along the L-axis.  Excavation began by first cleaning up the wash out along the bank area.  Only scattered fragmented pieces of tile and plaster were discovered.  The ground level before the trench was then cleared to the floor level of the south-east building, where a tile fall is located.  this demarcation will be used as our floor level.

We removed the humus layer from M/77-85 with picks.  We found a number of pottery fragments along with a piece of bone, tile fragments, plaster fragments, and possibly a chipped sling stone.

Tile count: 1/2 casette

Pottery count: 1 piece of bucchero
