Daily Log

July 22, 2003

Excavation was continued through Locus 5.  It seemed as if the bottom of the burn layer was reached, so the floor was cleaned.  The floor sloped down from the west to the east.  It was decided to begin a baulk wall trim for the rest of the day, so as to check the stratigraphy.

One special find was made -- a piece of ridge pole tile with a raised braid.

The baulk walls were trimmed back.  A greyware base was found in Locus 3.  Some ceramics were pulled out of other loci.
