7am-12pm

Tools: trowels, buckets, wheelbarrow, pick axe, plumb bob, line level, tape measure, dustpans

Soil: gray/brown with yellow tint, crumbly

Passes: 1 pick pass through trench from S to N

Morning spent fixing baulk walls.  Began pick pass from S. Pick through S 1/3 of trench and have found cavetto fragment and gorgon hair fragment.  Soil still remains gray/brown/yellow - not yet the sandy soil that is expected under the Archaic destruction.  The decorative fragments appearing now are distinct from the tile spreads of before even though they appear in much the same place because there is at least a 10 cm difference between the elevations.  Still bits of charcoal being found.

12:30 pm -4:30pm
