Bean-decorated bown fragment
Rectangle 7, Extension

Photographs taken.
Work was continued in the extension of R7 which was staked the day before. There was no clear indication of a pavement, or str. A. Instead the soil is hard- specks of carbon- with a fair amount of tiles and pithoi fragments- 4 boxes were gathered. There are also fragments of mud-bricks (?) or stucco, and pottery. Some bones and shells, but no bronze so far. One more sherd with a "bean" on the rim.
The foundations of the wall appear on the sides of the cut, and we hope to define the outline of the

Cut-Out type akroterion fragment
rounded protrusion of the southern side which is thought of as a pilaster.
The cut-out akroterii on which was noticed on the crosswall between R7 and R8 was taken out. It was found to join the piece previously excavated in Rectangle 7 (see p. 114 #4) This piece was found in R7 grid C1, thus just at the doorway of the easter foundation wall. Joins with fragments found in other areas: Ag. 6 and 2, and T 1U. Also T1 AD and CA1 (additions 1973).
