Baulk trimming on both west and south walls of H-I/42 down to top of stone concentration. Some carbon is present, but not the heavy burn layer found to the east of the stones. Recovered approx. 20 small fragments of tile and plaster, a flake of bronze, and 1/3 latte box of bone and pottery, including find #1, a small piece of incised bucchero.
Baulk cleaning on the north and south walls of H-I/48/47 yielded a 1/2 dozen small pieces of tile and plaster and 7 small fragments of coarseware and impasto pottery. Find #2, the base of a pointed amphora was found at 12 cm in I/47.
Extended cut in H-I/45 into H-I/44, down to approx. 130cm. Soil is dark brown w/ carbon inclusions and lies above a layer of carbon. Underneath that appeared a yellowish galestra-like soil. Found 1/4 cassette of tile and 3 full late boxes of bone and pottery (including a tile and frgments of bucchero). Among the latter was find #3, a piece of incised bucchero, and find #4, the knob from the interior of a bucchero cup. Also found was a spindle whorl, poss. bucchero, find #6.
Began picking in H-I/49 to lower the platform from 35-50cm. Recovered 1/6 cassetta of tile and 1/8 box of pottery and bone. A cruicible fragment was found w/ the pithos pile, and made find #5 poss. from baulk cleaning in I/48-46.

Straightened walls of cut down to 130cm. Recovered find #7, a piece of ridge pole tile, partially vitrified. Continued out west in H-I/44. Soil still dark brown w/carbon inclusions on top, a carbon layer in between, and a galestra-like soil beneath. In all, 1/16 cassetta of small tiel fragments and 1/2 box of pottery and bone were found.
