AM: work in P/Q 34 continued in order to remove soil lying around and over the N/S running stones. A darker layer which is relatively hard packed is being exposed by this excavation.

Removed during the course of excavation was the tile sitting at an angle, described yesterday (see p. 97). Because of two clean spots where a covertile sat, this piece of pan tile is being saved separately.

Work in P/Q 37 on a layer lying directly east of where the N/S running wall is G-R 37 lies. This soil is crumbly and a reddish brown. Very little of pottery come from this area, and much of it was very decayed and friable.

Work in P/Q 38-40 continued as well. In order to define a line of stones running

N/S in P/Q 38. Only a couple of handfuls of pottery and one third of a latte carton of tile were recovered.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
