Trench was somewhat wet due to rain over the weekend. Pickaxed through the bottom 1/3 of the trench. Soil is still the brown of Locus 2 with roots and rocks mixed in. Contined a pickpass in the middle third of the trench. Some small flecks of carbon were visible near the middle of the trench at the 89N meter. Soil also has some small chunks of greyish dirt visible in it.Two slingstone looking rocks were found in the SW area of the trench along with a higher concentration of larger chunks of plaster (2-6cm).

Possible new locus apparent in the southern part of the trench. Soil seems to be harder and have more small rocks in it. It is also somewhat sandier in color. Bone was found in the middle soithern part of the trench. The new soil has smaller rocks, decomposing plaster and carbon. Trowled down to the new locus in the southern part of the trench. Cindy has also come to the similar level- a much denser dirt with more broken up plaster and smaller rocks.

PM

Trimmed baulk walls in the south and west to try and find the soil change throught the trenhc. There may have been a soil change earlier than we first realised since the N baulks do not seem to continue with Locus 2 soil as deep as we currently thought. Depths taken.
