Due to the rain last night, the soil across the entire trench is damp and washed out. Locus 3 is unable to be excavated until it dries out and Locus 2 can be excavated with care. Work commenced in Locus 2 with handpicks and trowels continuing to drop elevation to the floor level of the CA 70-2012 sounding. As this progressed, a small amount of terracotta and pottery have been found along with a few small pieces of charcoal. The soil is being sorted into buckets of which one in three are being sieved. During sorting, a piece of slag was discovered (Special Find #1)

As the elevation dropped, the trench has been producing more and more charcoal. Even with this, very little terracotta, pottery, or bones have been found as the elevation has reached that of CA 70 – 2012 sounding. Locus 2 and 3 were scraped down, brushed, and clipped of roots in preparation for closing photos. Closing photos for Locus 2 and 3 were taken.
