The cut in A-B/68-70 wa extended to a depth of ca. 90-95cm.  The soil was yellow-grey in color, very loose in substance and contained dense chunks of white, powdery, clay-like material.  A sample of these white chunks was taken down to the magazzino.  Beginning at a depth of ca. 90cm, small concentrations of orange, powdery soil also began to appear.  No material was found in the yellow-grey soil.  The stump in B/69-70 continued to be shived down.  The soil beneath the stump was dark brown in color.  A few small, worn pieces of tile were found among the roots of the stump.
