Photographs Taken

Began new cut in H-I/42-45 down to approx. 160 cm.  Soil was yellow-brown, clay-like, and devoid of material.  Began and finished new cut in H-I/46-48 down to 160cm.  Soil was yellow-brown and clay-like except for the northern 1/3 of H/46-47 which contained a dark brown soil.  It was in this dark soil that the material was found: 2 pieces oif tile and several small pieces of plaster and less than 20 pieces of bone and pottery.

Took shelf in H-I/49 down from 100 to approx. 115cm.  Medium brown soil yielded 1/8 cassetta of tile, 2/3 latte box of pottery and bone, and finds #1 and 2, 2 ridged rim fragments.  Baulk cleaning in H-I/42-44 proided 1 shard of coarseware and 1 sherd of bucchero.

The north baulk of meter H/44-48 was straightened, producing 2/3 latte box of pottery and bone, and 1/12 cassetta of tile and plaster fragments.  A bronze fibula (#5) was also found.

The baulks of H-I/49 were also straightened , producing 1/4 latte box of pottery and bone, and 1/6 cassetta of tile and plaster.

A cut in meters H-I/50-52 was begun and completed.  The trench flour in this area was lowered to about 160cm.  Soil was dark brown above yellow-brown clay-like soil.  1/4 latte of pottery and bone, and 1/2 cassetta of tile and plaster (some with reed impressions) fragments were removed.  Also from this area, in the dark brown soil were two fragments of painted cream ware (#3, #4).  Began work on the south baulk in meters I/46-47, in order to prepare it for section drawing.  2 fragments of bone, 3 of pottery, and 12-15 of tile were removed.
