A.M.

74-75/M-O were taken down from 80 cm to 100 cm.  Earth in M was blackened and contained some bone and tile.  N-O were more reddish and packed with plaster.  Here a tile fall was encountered, which is a continuation of the tile fall outside our trench ( see p. 157 - "outside" tile fall had been covered with plastic and backfilled in years past).  Tiles were left in situ.

76-77/M-O were taken down from 65 to 80 cm.  Tiles were common in this area - tile pack from 7/22 was encountered ( see p. 157 ).  A paw fragment of a statue was recovered in 76/M and a feline head was found in O/76.

By noon, 5 cassette of tile and 5 of plaster had been dumped.  3 tall latte boxes of pottery were filled.

P.M.

76-77/M-O were taken down to roughly 100 cm.  Earth in M was blackened and that in N and O was reddish due to high plaster content.  The tile fall at this level is heavier in N and O also.  A rocchetto head (with two sets of 3 parallel lines which intersect to form a Greek cross) was found in grid 76/M.  Also, an ear fragment from a feline head came from 76/O.  Perhaps this joins the head found this morning, however

Tile: 2

Plaster: 5

Pottery: 2 latte

it is too early to say, as the head was taken to the magazino at noon.
