This morning the clearing of rock packing was continued in N 4-5. the burned stratum noted yesterday and earlier widens considerably toward the east and contains the majority of the finds. Tile fragments occur toward the top of the layer, coarse ware and bucchero below. Notable finds within the layer this morning were a bronze fibula, a crumpled sheet of bronze, fragments of imported pottery, two strawberry cartons of coarse ware and one strawberry carton of bucchero.
Simultaneously, a one meter wide cut was begun in NT-1: C-4 and followed to the north to T-17: P-4. Although the bucchero knob for a lid, a rocchetto fragment and the shaft of a bronze nail were found near the surface in NT-1: B-4, the remainder of the cut revealed only scattered coarse ware and bucchero fragments and a half cassetta of tile. A yellow soil devoid of any pottery or finds appeared at a depth of c. 1.25m. in T-17: P-4, directly underneath the burned stratum.
