Tools: pick axe, trowels, buckets, wheelbarrow, plumb bob, line level, tape measure

Soil: yellow/brown crumbly changing to yellow sandy

Passes: South 2/3 trench pick pass begin in S

Pick pass begun in S of trench. In the approximate center of the pass is a jumble of terracotta tiles.  The tiles are standing on end in all different directions.  Unlike the two tile spreads previously found.  Soil becoming increasingly yellow and sandy.  Lots of pottery and terracotta.

Terracotta: 5 bowls

Pottery: 3 1/2 latte boxes, 140 pieces

Other: 1 1/2 latte boxes bone, 41 pieces

Latest Dateable:

Pick through N 1/3 of trench.  Continues to have lots of pottery and terracotta.  Work on baulk walls.  The yellow soil shows up througout the trench so with closing of the day is closing of Locus 5.
