STRATEGY: Define and excavate sherd/plaster deposit 2026. Continue removal of 2025 and definition of inner face of f273. Spray unit and further identify features on the surface.
SUMMARY: Spraying surface produced relatively few results due to poor light and high evaporation. However, an attempt was made to discern the extent of the tholos wall SW of the excavated area to augment efforts to define the same feature through trowelling. No further progress was made in this area. Principal effort was expended toward further definition of 2026. Deposit consists of a loose jumble of sherds, medium to quite small in size and small fragments of bone. It is difficult to determine whether the plaster is debris mixed with the sherds or part of a feature into or against which the sherds were set. It is also adjacent to the wall and may have cut into it, since definition of the face is difficult in this section. It also seems likely that 2026 extends to a greater depth than presently exposed, making further examination of the deposit difficult. Until more of 2025 has been removed. Within 2026 some evidence of burning was noted; two sherds with possible residues were removed as samples for analysis.
