Finished leveling in Y-Z/18-17.  This produced 3 fragments of pottery, a small piece of bronze (bagged w/ pottery), and 8-10 fragments of plaster.

The eastern baulk of Y-Z/18 was also scraped down again, in order for the architect to draw it.

Finished defining around stones in Y-Z/14.  The soil around these stones was a burn/destruction soil w/ carbon; there was a high concentration of plaster in the northern portion of the line.  This work produced 2/3 latte box of pottery and bone, a fragmentary piece of vitrified material w/ bronze shadow, and 3 large handfuls of plaster fragments, with a few pieces of tile.  A piece of incised bucchero (#1) and cut bone (#2) were found in this area.

Began another cut in Y-Z/17-18, moving west at a depth of aobut 180 cm.  The soil throughout the cut was yellowish brown with very little material.  There were occasional flecks of carbon and small stones.  9 fragments of pottery were recovered w/ a small flake of bronze, and 4 pieces of tile.

The area of Y-Z/13-14 were partially scraped down to aobut 160 cm. b.d. in order to trace the different areas of soil.  The western section of

[ continued ] Z/13 shows a heavy plaster layer descending into the unexcavated soil (this area will be sketched tomorrow.)  This work produced 3/4 latte box of pottery and bone as well as a small piece of bronze, and 20-30 pieces of plaster and 5 fragments of tile.  The soil was mostly dark brown-grey with carbon inclusions.
