Daily Log

June 20, 1971

Work was continued in the "middle" of the trench (grid C-D 3). As can be seen form the rest of finds, , this section proved to be extremely rich in finds. In addition to the decorated bucchero fragments (handles etc.) there are many sherds of good impasto and bucchero.

The bronze and ivory objects seem to appear mostly in the lower parts of str. D. Many times they are found right next to a pithos bottom - also underneath.

was partly protected by the bulging side a pithos.

For the restored pottery from this section se entries also in IE IV, pp. 201 . Except for the vases found more or less intact in one place it appears that the sherds are scattered all over the trench.
