Work began by making a pick pass in Locus 11 , in the extension.  Soil was sorted directly into buckets and remains olive brown, claylike, and slightly mottled.  During the first pick pass, a piece of burnt, slightly vitrified terracotta (Find #1), a bent iron fragment (Find #2), and a sherd of red slip pottery with a stamped pattern (Find #3) were recovered.

A second pick pass was completed with soil being scraped up using trowels and sorted directly into buckets.  At this point, the darker olive brown, more heavily mottled, claylike soil of Locus 5 began to appear in the eastern half of the trench, while in the western half, a concentration of tiles, similar to Locus 4 , was uncovered.  Unlike the original part of the trench, the tiles will not be declared a new locus for it doesn\xe0t extend very var into the extension.  The tiles are included in Locus 11 , and were removed to expose the new, darker soil.  The trench was scraped down in preparation for the closing of Locus 11 and the opening of Locus 12 .  While doing so, a sherd of painted pottery (Find #4) and a possible oinochoe handle (Find #5) were uncovered.  Additionally, another handle fragment (Find #6), a sherd of red slip pottery which appears incised or scored (Find #7), a sherd of stamped red slip pottery (Find #8), and an incised sherd of slipped pottery (Find #9) were recovered.

No excavations in afternoon because in magazino.
