Metal Summary

Metals were not abundant in CA42N but a total of 13 objects was recovered. Majority (10) come from the area of stone formation. Iron finds included a piece of iron from locus 1(#1 p. 17 ) and 5 iron slags from loci 4, 5, 10, and 11(#2 p. 45 , #3 p. 45 , #1 p. 93 , #2 p. 121 , #7 p. 133 ) and an iron nail from locus 11(#6 p. 109 ). Bronze finds came exclusively from the "feature" area, loci 10, 11, 15 and included bronze fibula pin coil (#1 p. 103 ), part of bronze rod (#6 p. 97 ) and 3 unidentifiable bronze pieces (#3 p. 83 , #1 p. 121 , #3 p. 159 ). All metal object were relatively well preserved.

A special find was a fragment of a small cobalt blue glass bead from locus 11 (#4, p. 123 ).
