Set pichetti on trench baulks at meter points 13-19 and Y-alpha.  Approximately 60 cm. of meter 20 are included in the trench, most likely due to the washout of stones from the layer of stones at the topsoil layer, which can be seen in the east baulk.  This washout may have also produced part of the stone concentration in meters 19-20/Y-alpha.

Continued the 10 cm. cut into meters Y-Z/15-16.  THe soil was yellowish brown throughout.  This area produced 1/8 latte box of pottery and bone fragments, mostly courseware with a few fragments of bucchero, and 12-15 fragments of tile and numerous bits of terracotta.  Find #2 came from this area.

Began a 10 cm. cut in meters Y-Z 18 moving west, to meet the first cut, into Y-Z/17.  The soil here was also a yellowish-brown.  The area produced 8 pottery fragments, mainly coarseware, and 1 piece of bone, as well as 15-20 small tile and plaster fragments.  Find #1, a portion of cavetto, was found in this cut.
