19 July 2022 AM: As Locus 6 continued to produce artifacts and by its cut and interface with T22 (2019) suggested a depression or cut in the surrounding bedrock it was decided that further exploration was warranted. Partly because Locus 6 was difficult to excavate at its small size and partly because the continuation between that cut and T22 needed definition, the trench was extended to the west 1m for a length of 2m from the northwest corner. The extension was opened as Locus 7. Locus 7 was a rectangle which measured 1m x 2m and was composed of medium brown compact clay soil. Opening photos were taken of Locus 7 as well as opening elevations, coordinates, and measurements. There were few inclusions which consisted of some terra cotta fragments, plaster, and pottery fragments. There was also a large number of medium to large limestones which for the moment were left in place. They are arranged in a linear manner stretching 2m across the locus N-S and further north and south outside of it where stones appear on the surface. It is 0.54m at its greatest exposed width. This feature was noted in previous excavations and documented on site plans. PM: Locus 7 continued to be scraped with handpicks as the limestone fragments in the linear stone feature were defined. Soil is consistent with the morning and composed of compact medium brown clay. There were inclusions of terra cotta in small fragments and several pieces of pottery.
