STRATEGY: 1. Continue looking for the tholos floor. 2. Attempt to find the relation between the pise building and tholos.

SUMMARY: 1. Salman continued in the NW of the inside of the tholos under lot 914. This was a hard red (pise?) layer with flecks of charcoal. We then changed lot and removed another 2cm spit under lot 925, which revealed a possible stone surface in the southern extremity that may yet prove to be a later level of architecture. I trimmed(?) the wall corner of f241 back under lot 912. Salman also exposed several sherds lying flat, again indicating a surface. Kemal continued to take 911 down, exposing a large number of sherds. This was mainly soft light fill coming down on a harder surface similar to 914/925. I then asked him to go down in the area below 908 and extend this over the whole area in the southern part of the tholos (including 911) under lot 927. 2. I spotted in the western face of f241 a red band approximately 2/5 up the section. I thought this may be the same as the surface being uncovered behind the wall 914/925. I decided to put a section through f241 to see. If my hypothesis is correct then this would mean that wall f241 may have been erected on this surface. How this will relate to the tholos remains to be seen.
