The area north of the wall was taken down to the level of the top of the wall. Found at 1.75m S and 1.30m E was a piece of sima (#6, 19670351

ear and forehead for a waterspout attachment. In the next layer of earth in the northern part a heavier concentration of tiles, though not as large or well-preserved as those in previous trenches, was found and cleaning began. Pottery was scarce.
Trench 1L was laid out approximately north-south 4m x 13m and adjacent to 1K. The area north of the wall was cleared down to the wall and produced almost no tile.
