The floor of the S.E. building was cleaned for two hours. Grids K-Q/54-56 were cleaned down of loose surface dirt after the Saturday's abrupt departure from clean-up in this area due to bad weather.
A cut was made 80 cm from surface at Q in Q/58. This cut takes the baulk down to a layer of yellowish soil. Above 80 cm mark, there was light brown soil. In the soil from this cut was found two pieces of bronze slag, pottery, and tiles. There is also a heavy concentration of burned matter. This carbon concentration seems to increase toward grid 57. Bone fragments were also found. Pottery was of assorted fabrics: orangeware, coarseware, bucccheroid, and impasto.
Pantile from Q-58, 80 cm placed in rep. box 1995.
P.M.
Floor of the S.E. building was cleaned. Grid V/55, north of T-25, seems to be "real" dirt and not backfill. No plastic was found in the floor in this grid and much pottery was discovered. Impasto, grayware, and orangeware were all represented. Bone was also found.
Half a cassetta of tile and plaster was filled. One piece of tile was badly burned. ~80 cm down from the surface at U, small amounts of carbon showed up. At this level, heavy plaster layer shows up.
