In sectors D-F, 0 in courtyard - concentration of burnt material - pieces of carbon and burnt earth became greater towards the wall of the upper bldg.  Though very little bronze was found here the bucchero increased noticeably as did fragments of coarse ware.  Carbon was particularly heavy against the wall of the upper bldg. in sector E-F, 0.  Very little ivory has been found to date in the courtyard.  Most noticeable in the concentration of bronze and iron nails in sectors B-C.  TOgether with this is the considerable no. of rocchetti found here.  No. of large pithos fragments were found C-D, 0-1 and at least 2 diff. rims were found with them.  Concentration of pan tiles in the courtyard is not relatively heavy.

Rect. 8 sector B, 5-7 produced very little in the way of pottery and small finds - bucchero was very slight in this area.  B, 5-6 - at depth c. 30 cm - what appears to be stone foundation wall - a continuation of that found in rect. 7.  The wall itself appears to be built directly on bedrock - portioins of which were uncovered to the west.  Fragments of large pan tiles lay directly on top of wall - while the area to the west of the wall was covered with stone fill - perhaps a continuation of that found in the fona - ( See EN Bk. 1 ).  Above the level of the stone fill, approximately level to tiles on wall lies a dark carbon layer sloping down slightly

to the west.  Tiles lay directly on top of the carbon layer.
