A pick pass was done in the eastern half of the trench. Pottery and terracotta are being uncovered in this pass. The western meter, 5E-6E, was left unpicked because of all the rocks there. This area will be defined w/ trowels. While cleaning up the soil a piece of slag was uncovered, since so much slag is being found that it has been decided to bulk find slag as long as it is in the same general area. While cleaning up a piece of iron was found, it is three sheets of iron held together w/ an iron nail (special find #1). Also a iron tack was recovered (special find #2). A fluted spindle whorl was uncovered in the pass (special find #3).
