The morning began with definingtiles throughout the whole trench in preparation for declaring a new locususing handpicks, trowels, and brushes. The trench was leveled along the naturalslope of the layer. Photos were taken. It was decided to declare a new locusthroughout the entire trench. The soil has become clay like and darker brownwith small pockets of galestra. The northern 2 meters of the trench contain anabundance of tile which may be an archaic tile fall within the archaic surfaceon which they fell.

Once Locus 3 was established itwas decided to lower the trench with hand picks. Once the tiles become loosethey will be removed in order to access earlier stratigraphy. The soil is beinghandpicked and troweled. The soil remains compacted with inclusions ofgalestra. Large pieces of tiles which are well preserved
and pottery are being found. Nowthat the entire trench is no longer in topsoil or dirt dump and is within asecure stratigraphic layer every third bucket will be sieved in a sieve whichis 8 meters to the east of T-67. The tiles in the north of the trench have beenfound to be stacked upon other tiles. A detail photo was taken. Handpicks andtrowels are being used to lower the trench. Tile is being removed, 8 largetiles and two bowls of terracotta to start have been taken out. Large tilescontinue to be uncovered and removed with handpicks and trowels. A ridged pieceof bucchero (Special Find #1) was found at the northernmost meter among tile.

Work continued in the northernsquare meter of the trench lowering the trench around the in situ tiles. Fourdiagnostic bones were found near the southern extent of the first meter of thetrench (Special Find #2, Special Find #3, Special Find #4, and Special Find#5).

A piece of ridged pottery was also found inthe first meter of the trench close to the western wall (Special Find #6).

The soil continues to be darkbrown soil and clay mixture with a large amount of tile and pottery and somebone. Because the tile was removed and the archaic surface sectioned through itwas decided to declare Locus 4 . The trench was troweled and photos were taken.
