Daily Log

July 5, 1971

Work was continued in grid A-F 1. Str. D seems here less burnt than in the previous cuts. The soil is reddish-brown with some-but not very much- carbon. Grid A1 was excavated completely, down to the floor level. The foundations of the Eastern wall appeared. They are somewhat uneven compared to those of rectangle 6.

In the rest of the cut, B-F 1, the soil was removed in layers. It became clear that the concentration of material is less. Tiles and pithoi fragments were gathered, in all five or six boxes.

Two strawberry cartons of sherds were collected. Nothing outstanding.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
